FS Recruiting Board

Every Fallon Sports member receives what we call their own “Recruiting Board”. This is a personal college list of what we feel are your best opportunities to get into a college, where you will be happy, stay for 4-years, earn your degree and play college baseball. This is created and shared with the player and family and based on our evaluations of you, conversations, communications with college coaches, more than 20 years experience helping students and families select the perfect college for them and many other factors. We are able to and will add colleges to this list as we move throughout the process but it is a real time college list of where you are at currently within your recruiting process.

That is just the beginning, we then begin to be shape your recruiting board into three main categories, (Long Shots, Good Bets and Best Bets). This typically happens during or after your junior year, as we turn the corner into your senior year. Before then it’s more about gathering “followers” and getting coaches interested in you so you can work through the process of understanding what you are looking for in a college, a college coach, a city/town and the overall college experience.

As you move along you can always refer back here as you have questions as we continually add new and fresh information.

Below is a general breakdown of the different categories within our Recruiting Board, so you know what each category means and how you can use it to maximize your recruiting efforts. Remember, we’ll explain each further this week in the clubhouse and how you can utilize each to maximize your recruiting so be sure to keep coming back to the clubhouse and if you have not already subscribed, do so now.

Level - The association and division each college is (NCAA D1, NCAA DII, NCAA DIII, NAIA, JUCO, etc). I’ll breakdown the differences in levels, scholarship amounts and what it is like to be at each level, here in a future clubhouse post.

Institution - The name of the college or university

Address - The address is typically the physical address since we have gone to mailing less stuff but need the actual physical address of GPS purposes - so that is what you’ll find here.

State - The state the college is located in

Zip - The zip code the college is located in. This allows you to quickly check stats like crime rate, insurance rates, actual average temperature, rainfall, whatever you need. (If you go through the college website for this, you might see different stats)

Phone - Typically the coaches direct line but in some cases (when requested) it is an office number or a general number.

Website - The link to the college, not the baseball page, you’ll have to navigate there on your own. Remember, you have to be able to get into the college FIRST, so let’s keep first things first

Enrollment - The amount of students actually enrolled in the college. I’ll break down the Pros and Cons of big vs small in the clubhouse

Coach - The head coach or in some cases, the coach that they have asked me to use when communicating. Many of the head coaches want the email from you but will then forward you onto their recruiting coordinator, this is common practice.

Selectivity - The difficulty in getting accepted at the college and where you would fall in merit based scholarships. I will completely break this down for you in the clubhouse.

Email - The email they’ve asked us to use when beginning communication. Many times, you’ll begin communication with another coach on the staff than who is listed here but this is the start.

Type - The type of college, whether it is a private liberal arts college or a public research university. Colleges come in all shapes and sized and although the game of baseball really doesn’t change, the type of college can really have an impact on your day to day life so be sure to reach my blog in the club house on this topic.

Conference - The conference the college baseball team competes in. You can use this to see what other colleges that you are interested in plays each other.

Nickname - Just the nickname of the college, this will be who you are for 4 years so you’ll want to “buy in”

Once again, all of this will be broken down in the clubhouse so be sure to get registered if you have not already.
