Summer Collegiate Rosters - West Coast League
The reputation of the West Coast League has developed into a strong one since its inception in 2005. Coaches trust that their players will receive quality instruction in a professional atmosphere and return to their programs as better players. Players quickly discover a challenging level of play and an atmosphere that matches the minor league conditions many will soon experience. The West Coast League has a demanding schedule, travel and wood bats that test prospects, preparing them for the pros. Coaches and players live with host families and play in front of large crowds in a range of intimate ball parks from old minor league parks to state-of-the-art collegiate stadiums. There are nine former Arizona prep players on rosters in the West Coast league are with the Bend Elks RHP Freddy Erlandson (Brophy College Prep - 2015), the Corvalis Knights have Grand Canyon University RHP Jake Wong (Hamilton - 2015) and the Gresham Greywolves have another Grand Canyon University pitcher in LHP Gabe Benavides (Canyon del Oro - 2015). The Cowlitz Black Bears have Brophy Prep's LHP Dustin Wells (Brophy College Prep) who is pitching at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Wells was a first team All-NWC selection and was named Pitcher of the Year for the NWC for 2016. He was stellar on the mound in conference with an undefeated 6-0 record and a 2.49 ERA. The Kitsap BlueJackets have two Arizona based pitchers in Eastern Arizona College, Nick Caudillo (Highland - 2015) and Hawaii Pacific University's Jake Suddreth - Mesquite - 2015) while the Bellingham Belles ahev Arizona State University RHP Gio Lopez (Millennium - 2015). There are two Arizona 2016 grads in the league - for the Wenatchee AppleSox Basha's Casey Legumina who will be attending Gonzaga University while the Victoria HarbourCats has University of Arizona commit, Cameron Cannon (Mountain Ridge - 2016)
